The Spanish singer Nancy Fabiola Herrera will once again be in the opera news in her own country as she is taking the lead role in Carmen at the Teatre Principal in Maó (Menorca) at the end of May. The mezzo from Grand Canary will thus be meeting Bizet's gipsy again in the Balearic Islands, having sung the role all around the world. This time she will be singing Carmen shortly after having performed the role to great acclaim at the Sochi Winter International Arts Festival, in Russia, where she has also sung the role at the legendary Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.
So far this season, among other engagements, and as well as this Carmen in Russia, Nancy Fabiola Herrera has performed Carmen at the Rome Opera House, has been Paula in Daniel Catán´s opera Florencia at the Amazon, as well as Washington and Los Angeles Opera (United States), she made her European debut in the role of Dalila, in Samson et Dalila by Saint-Saëns, at Oviedo Opera House, she gave a recital at the Teatro Arriaga in Bilbao and participated in a gala at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelfia (USA).
In her Menorcan debut, with two performances on the 29th and 31st May, Fabiola Herrera will share the stage with the Venezuelan tenor Aquiles Machado, the Valencian soprano Isabel Rey and the Menorcan baritone Simon Orfila, among others. The production is directed by Paco López and conducted by Giuseppe Finzi.
