The Spanish mezzo-soprano Nancy Fabiola Herrera will land in Andalucía this summer to join the Second Edition of the Tio Pepe Festival. The several spaces and gardens of the González Byass Winery will host this Festival offering concerts August 13th and 14th with Nancy Fabiola Herrera and Estrella Morente, respectively.
Under the title of Carmen and I, Herrera will inagurate de Festival with a selection from one of her most famous characters -Bizet´s Spanish gipsy- and other pieces that depicts a selfportrait of the artist.
Herrera has played Carmen all over the world over a hundred times and has opened her the doors of theaters like the Metropolitan in New York, Los Angeles Opera, the Royal Opera House in London, the New National Theater in Tokyo, Teatro Bolshoi in Moscow, the Sidney and Melbourne Opera, the Deutsch Oper in Berlin, the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome, as well as some of the most important stages in Spain. The Canary Island´s artist will perform with pianist Juan Antonio Álvarez Parejo, the Teatro Villamarta Chorus and, as special guest, famenco dancer Mercedes Ruíz.
Nancy Fabiola Herrera arrives to Jerez after an intense season where she has performed at Washington and Los Angeles Opera (Catan’s Florencia en el Amazonas), Auditorio Nacional in Madrid (Falla´s La vida breve), San Pau Recinto Modernista (Recital for the Victoria de los Angeles Foundation), Palau de la Música in Valencia (Montsalvatge’s Cinco canciones negras with the Orquesta de Valencia), Opera de Oviedo (Samson et Dalila), Kimmel Center (80TH Aniversary Gala for AVA) and Opera Maó-Menorca (Carmen).
After her engagement at the Tio Pepe Festival, the next commitments are Falla’s Amor Brujo with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria, a recital in the Auditorio Josep Carreras in Vilaseca-Salou for the Josep Carreras Foundation, and then she returns to the Metropolitan Opera in NY with her acclaimed Maddalena in Rigoletto.
